In my Studio Art class this semester, we are kind of doing a mini year 12. We have to pick a medium to work in, brainstorm a theme then explore different ideas to then create two final pieces.
I have chosen to do photography and my theme is Home.
One of my ideas is to experiment with long exposure. I'm not sure exactly how I am going to use it just yet but I will find a way.
Now, long exposure is when the shutter speed is set for a long time and it allows more light in through the lens and also captures movement. You can set the shutter speed to however long you want, depending on what you are taking a photo of.
Although I have kind of used long exposure before, it was really only for fun. Tonight I tested it out again and used 'professional' settings. First I rested my camera on something stable (as I have yet to buy a tripod) and used the torch on my phone to move around and create a pattern. I then put my phone on the ground and moved my camera around. Here are the shots I took:
Don't mind my face in this one haha. |
The light isn't meant to make a specific picture or pattern in these, I was just testing out the settings.
I absolutely love using long exposure. I think you can create some amazing photos with it, so I am hoping to experiment some more and using different subject matter.
Let me know what you think.
Peace & Love
