So this morning, on a fine Sunday, my friend Jayde and I headed to the city for ACU (Australian Catholic University) Open Day in Melbourne.
I was really excited to be going to ACU as my mum did some study there and it was good to be going for me this time and not for her.
For a while ACU focused mainly on education and theological studies but a few weeks ago I found out that they have branched out and cover almost every area. So I went to check out the campus and also find out more about the creative arts courses, mostly drama, music and media, while Jayde went and looked at the business area
I absolutely love ACU. I found it so inviting and warming and there is a real sense of community. It isn't a huge school which for me is great and the campus is fairly central. There are also really good opportunities at ACU with a number of student associations that run a variety of events and you also have the option of studying overseas.
However, two of the major selling factors for me are the very achievable ATAR (or entry) scores (with the majority of courses being around 58-60) and the library is amazing. Now I know you are thinking "why would she care about the library?" But let me tell you that having a really good library with great seating and a lot of computers, plus being really comfortable, makes a huge difference when it comes to studying.
Although I am not 100% certain as to whether or not I will be going to ACU, or even university in general, going to today's open day has really given me a great insight into what it would be like going to ACU and what they offer there. So I highly suggest going to a number of open days, especially if you are in your last or second last year of school. You don't even need to know exactly what you want to do, just go. It is also good to go to a range of open days to compare different universities.
Both Jayde and I enjoyed going today and I am hoping to go to another open day in a couple of weeks. Oh and we also got free fairy floss (or cotton candy for any Americans).
Anyway, talk to you soon.
Peace & Love
Rachel xoxo
